Insane Network Issues

Thanks for the help but I called Comcast the other day and the modem problem was solved in less than 10 minutes. They're in the process of transitioning to IPv6 and my modem was having issues with it, so she just sent an updated boot file to the modem while I held down the reset button. It was so simple I wanted to kick myself for spending a week trying to figure it out on my own, restoring my computer and even buying a new computer that I returned yesterday. Comcast is usually a pain to deal with but that call was so fast and easy, which is a first. So anyway it's fixed now and everything is good.

  1. You got any pictures, I can help you take a look. From what I hear from your situation, it might be an MAC address problem of your router. Have your try resetting your router? You can try that by just plugging your LAN directly without going through the router. Due to the reason, another computer has encountered the same problem, it’s very likely a problem with the router.

PS: Try switching the PC’s LAN port to the LAN port you use in PS3. If that fix your problem then all I can say it’s that one of the port in your router starts to fail. This situation often happens in office which over-use switch and router (if they are OLD enough). My office got a router with 3 port dead, and then I told my boss bought the office REALLY needs another one.

    Some other possibility:

    1. The light still spark, but the port’s data transfer functions says good bye.
    2. The light still spark, router can’t identify the port.
    3. No light, then try switching the LAN wire. (My cats really like playing with my wires…)
    4. Someone unplug your LAN, and plugged to a wrong port…
    5. BECAUSE your browsing capabilities ran down and the same problem occur, it’s likely there is something wrong with your router or LAN wire.
    6. VERY unlikely to happen, your router has some technical problem which cause it to overheat when large amount of data is transit. That is not likely to happen in your case, as your PS3 runs fine.
    7. Try using a portable device, and use wireless to see if the problem still occur, if not definitely something wrong with your router’s port or LAN itself.

If you have some pictures, it’d really help to identify your problem. A big fan of your collection, Smallboy.
